
Supervisor Course
Duration: 2-3 days (full course) 1 day (refresher course)

This course is designed to develop the knowledge and skills required to safely, effectively and confidently function as a supervisor at a coal mining operation. The units within this cluster have been designed to provide the mining supervisor with a basic understanding of the obligations, role and responsibilities of a supervisor under the Qld Coal Mines Safety & Health Act 1999.
The Qld CMSHA requires a supervisor to be appointed under s26 by the SSE to give directions to other coal mine workers. The supervisor has to access information relating to site procedures and processes and ensure all workers under their control obtain that information in a manner that is clearly understood so as to enable the worker to carry out their work in a safe manner.
In addition, the supervisor shall apply the site risk management procedures to create a safe working environment and to take action on any reported hazards and or incidents in a timely manner.

RECOMMENDED RECERTIFICATION PERIOD
The Qld Coal Mining Act requires all coal mine workers to complete a refresher of every skill that they have a unit of competency for at least once every 5 years. The supervisor will have to complete this refresher to obtain or maintain authorisation as a supervisor on site
Unique Student Identifier (USI): All Students completing a Nationally Recognised Course with receipt of a Statement of Attainment requires a USI which can be accessed from the USI website
