Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry
This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work.
This unit meets the general construction induction training requirements of:
Part 1.1 -Definitions and Part 6.5 of the Model Work Health and Safety Regulations.
Division 11 of Part 3 of the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996 for Western Australia;
Division 3 of Part 5.1 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2007 for Victoria
Course Content Includes:
Identify WHS Legislative requirements and duty of care obligations.
Identify construction hazards and control measures.
Risk management principles
Safe Work Procedures and practices
Communication strategies for improving workplace safety.
Management of hazardous substances
Safety signage
Hazard and incident reporting
Incident response and management strategies
Selection and use of PPE
Identify and selection of safety equipment.
This course is a Nationally Recognised Training and learners deemed competent at the conclusion of the course will be provided with a Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001 PREPARE TO WORK SAFELY IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY

Requirements:
All applicants must provide 3 forms of evidence as outlined in the course guidance notes provided on application
Suitable PPE including enclosed footwear must be worn.
Unique Student Identifier (USI): All Students completing a Nationally Recognised Course with receipt of a Statement of Attainment requires a USI which can be accessed from the USI website https://www.usi.gov.au/

Course delivery:
This course is delivered face to face with indivual assessment and group activities in a simulated workplace enviroment, at our Redland Bay facility or at an agreed safe location at your workplace.
Before commencement of each course, the trainer will assess participants language, literacy and numeracy levels. This will help trainers identify learners who need assistance and support and at the same time the suitability and appropriateness to enrol and complete a course.
Completion requirements:
To obtain a Statement of Attainment you must successfully complete both knowledge and practical components for all units of competency.
