Certificate III in Surface Extraction Operations
This qualification reflects the role of employees such as production operators in an open cut mine or quarry, who perform tasks involving a broad range of skilled applications in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures.
The qualification has 13 units in total being made up of 3 Core and 10 Elective units.
Two units can be selected from outside this training package to make up the necessary requirements to meet the qualification criteria.
Single units can be delivered and assessed on application on or off site dependant on participant or client needs.
Recommended Recertification Period:
The Qld Coal Mining Act requires all coal mine workers to complete a refresher of every skill that they have a unit of competency for at least once every 5 years. The holder of this unit may have to complete this refresher to obtain or maintain authorisation to enter and work in a confined space

This course is delivered face to face with individual assessment and group activities in a simulated workplace environment at an agreed safe location at your workplace.
Completion requirements:
This course requires you to successfully demonstrate skills and knowledge in both practical and written theory assessments to achieve your qualification.
