Carry out the Risk Management Process
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to carry out risk management processes, including planning, identifying hazards and assessing risk, and developing and implementing risk controls. This unit it appropriate for those working in supervisory and or management roles overseeing and auditing the risk assessment process.
The course requires the student to demonstrate knowledge and practical application of Qld coal mining safety and health legislative requirements and for the facilitation of risk management strategies and auditing of safety systems.
Course Content Includes:
Overview of industry standards in relation to risk management
Local hazard identification procedures
Facilitating a formal risk assessment to industry and site procedures
Identifying and implementation of effective risk controls
Monitoring of the risk management process to ensure continued effectiveness
Reporting on implementation issues
Communication of processes to all stakeholders
Review and auditing of the risk management processes and systems against legislative and industry standards
Development of an audit report
Recommended Recertification Period:
The Qld Coal Mining Act requires all coal mine workers to complete a refresher of every skill that they have a unit of competency for at least once every 5 years. The holder of this unit may have to complete this refresher to obtain or maintain authorisation to facilitate risk assessments on site

Course delivery:
This course is delivered face to face with individual assessment and group activities in a simulated workplace environment, at our Redland Bay facility or at an agreed safe location at your workplace.
Completion requirements:
This course requires you to successfully demonstrate skills and knowledge in both practical and written theory assessments to achieve your statement of attainment.
