Qualification description

is a nationally recognised unit of competency designed for workers in the health, aged care, and disability support sectors who assist clients with their medications as part of their support role.

This course provides students with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely assist clients to take their prescribed medications in accordance with organisational policies, individual support plans, and relevant legislation. 

Students learn about different types of medications, common routes of administration, documentation requirements, and how to support clients while maintaining their dignity, privacy, and independence.

The training also covers recognising and responding to medication errors, potential side effects, and when to escalate concerns to a supervisor or healthcare professional. 

Emphasis is placed on safe work practices, infection control, communication with clients, and accurate record keeping.

Course delivery:

This course is delivered at our Redland Bay facility or at an agreed location at your workplace.

Before commencement of each course, the trainer will assess participants language, literacy and numeracy levels. This will help trainers identify learners who need assistance and support and at the same time the suitability and appropriateness to enrol and complete a course.
